3 steps of meditation

Meditation, as you learn in Basic knowledge of meditation, is a true resting while having both relaxation and focusing. However, in practice, there are some steps that you could take to help you relax and bring your mind back to yourself. There are 3 steps of meditation that you could practice at home.

Relaxing your body

The First is relaxing your body. Let’s compare it with a car. If you have a lot of energy but your car engine is really old and about to break, how far could it take you? You could say not that far. It is the same. If you spend a lot of time meditating but your body is not ready, in the end, your mind cannot be still, and sometimes even worse it becomes more stressful.

Therefore, it is really important for us to take care of our bodies. Make it healthy by exercise stretching. And when you are going to meditate, you should not forget to adjust your posture to the most comfortable way. Then gently close your eyes and remember that you could always move if you feel stiff. Just make sure that you do it quietly and not disturb anyone

Relaxing your mind

The second is relaxing your mind. If you are driving your car really fast and suddenly hit the break extremely hard. After that, it would be a disaster. Your car might be broken and you might be injured. We love to get things fast it is our nature and that also includes calmness. I think that’s why most of us, when start meditating, struggle to still our minds. It is because they force their mind to stop and expect it to still completely. Right after, they work for an entire day.

It is not a surprise that their mind cannot stand it. Because our minds by nature don’t like to be controlled. So, the right way to meditate is to give yourself a moment to let everything go. Think about something pleasant or spreading kindness to the people around you. By doing that your mind will slowly calm itself and it would be ready to stay still.

Stilling your mind

The last is still your mind. You could simply do nothing and enjoy the relaxation that you have if you want just place your feeling on that relaxation, be content, and not hurry. On the other hand, If you feel like your mind is a bit restless, you could try reciting the mantra or visualizing a clear object to help your mind still.

Only tools

Eventually, all those techniques are just a tool like a boat that takes you from the land of chaos, thought, and worry to the land of calmness. When you reach your destination you don’t have to carry that boat anymore. you should let it go and stay with the happiness and relaxation that you have.
